Maisie Williams has done such an incredible job bringing author George RR Martin’s character Arya Stark to life on screen in Game of Thrones that it’s hard to believe she’d never acted before she was cast as the youngest daughter of House Stark.

But with three seasons of the hit HBO show under her belt, it’s clear the 16-year-old star has a real gift that could easily see her become one of the most sought-after young actresses of her generation.

Flicks And The City were lucky enough to catch up with Maisie on the set of her new short film, Up On The Roof, which follows two neglected teens, 13-year-old Marcus and 15-year-old Trish, who create a world together on the rooftops above the streets of London.

Check out the video to see Maisie chat about starring in Up On The Roof, what we can expect from her character in the film, how she gets into character, why she couldn’t put the film’s script down once she started reading it, how playing Arya Stark in GoT season 3 compares to previous seasons, how her dance background helped with sword-scene choreography, why she’d like Arya to meet up again with Jaqen H’ghar and Syrio Forel, what Arya thinks of The Hound, losing Gendry and Hot Pie, and teaming up with Hit-Girl from Kick-Ass:

Maisie Williams will be attending the Tampa Bay Comic Con this year. The Con will take place from August 23-25 at the Tampa Convention Center. To book your tickets, click here. Check out the schedules and other details at the Tampa Bay Comic Con here.

Her first role was that of Arya Stark, a tomboyish young girl from a noble family, in the 2011 HBO fantasy TV series Game of Thrones. Williams was the first child actor in the show whose character killed another onscreen, in the eighth episode “The Pointy End”. She received acclaim for her performance, with Zap2it calling her “wonderfully feisty” and the The Daily Telegraph “fantastic”.

Williams continued to garner praise in Season 2, and HBO submitted her for consideration as Outstanding Supporting Actress at the 2012 Primetime Emmy Awards. Her performance won two 2012 Portal Awards for Best Supporting Actress/Television and Best Young Actor. At 15 years of age, Williams is the youngest ever to win the Best Supporting Actress category. In March 2013, Williams was nominated for a Young Artist Award as Best Young Supporting Actress in a TV Series.

Williams has appeared as Loren Caleigh in the BBC’s The Secret of Crickley Hall. Other work, either filming or in post-production, includes Abbie in Lantern Film Productions’ Gold movie, the lead in the short film Corvidae from Wolfheart Films/Cat and Weasel, and Jo O’Malley in Bold Films’ Heatstroke movie.

Williams’ most recent signing is for the lead role of Lorna Thompson in Movie Mogul’s sci-fi film We Are Monsters, which is currently in pre-production.

Also, in August 2012, she appeared in a Funny or Die skit titled “The Olympic Ticket Scalper” alongside Patrick Stewart, Simon Pegg, and Ryan Lochte.
